Pinnacle Evolution 2 Dry Suit
Posted on Feb, 2010 in Home/Reviews/Pinnacle Evolution 2 Dry Suit
Today I will be reviewing the Evolution 2 drysuit from Pinnacle. Out of all scuba diving equipment, The EVO 2 as i call it is one of the most if not the most rugged built dry suit that i have ever seen. The Evo 2 is made of an extremely strong cordura material that is as tough as nails. So lets start with the construction of this suit.
The first time i saw this suit i was impressed, just looking at the suit made me imagine what this thing could handle and so far everything i have thrown at it has failed at doing any damage to this suit. As i stated earlier the Evo 2 uses an extremely durable cordura material which helps prevent any damage to the suit. The first time i wore this suit was in the niagara river, accidently hitting a rock underwater i thought the suit would have a huge tear in it and would ruin the dive , needless to say a few minutes later i was not wet, when i looked at the suit at the end of the dive it looked like nothing had happened. This is the greatest strength of this suit, its extreme durabilty.
Next thing is the wrist seals, the wrist seals are made of a much heavier duty latex seal, it is much thicker than the standard seal. This helps with the wear and the tear, however it is advised that due to the seals being so thick that they must be trimmed properly as they will not stretch out. The neck seal incorporates a standard latex seal into the suit.
Also coming on the EVO 2 is a neck damn, the neck damn allows for a drysuit hood to be sealed underneath it, meaning you stay warmer, this can be extremely helpful when diving in frigid waters. Another feature is the pockets, the Evo 2 comes with two attached pockets on the suit, this is where you can store all of your goodies for the dive.
This suit is so rugged that it is the choice of suit for many underwater dive teams in the local area. After seeing the type of diving they do I am shocked that not one of these suits has come back for repairs to fix tiny little holes.
So there are some downsides to this suit, the biggest is flexibility, due to using the heavy cordura material the suit is one of the least flexible suits I have ever worn, however it is the necessary trade off for its extreme durabilty. Any questions post in the comments section or call Dip ‘n Dive.
Till Next Time
Alex
