Both hard and soft urethane are used for a higher level of shock resistance than ever before. Hard urethane on the outside shuts out external shock. A soft urethane inner protector that surrounds the module has a totally new shape that expands and contract as pressure is applied, which absorbs impact and keeps it from reaching the module. The protector is also designed to cover the face as much as possible without interfering with reliability to protect it against damage.

Alpha GEL is implanted at the 12, 3, 6 & 9 o’clock for inner protection. The shock resistance of the protector and the outstanding resilience of the Alpha GEL® combines to create a totally new type of shock resistant construction.

The buckle is secured on both sides by screws to minimize the chance of detachment when the watch is dropped. The surfaces of the large buttons are knurled to minimize slipping and to improve user operation. The screw fastenings of the band minimize gaps to resist mud and dirt.

A Tough Solar power system provides plenty of power to power the watch’s functions, without having to worry about outages. All this packed in the largest case design in G-Shock history for a robust look of strength and power.
