The Petrel 2 by Shearwater Research is an advanced dive computer that can boast about a number of benefits. The device is both Open Circuit and Closed Circuit trimix enabled straight out of the box. It has a stunning 2.4” full-color HD display with a simple two-button operation. Thanks to the built-in digital compass, 5 programmable gases in each OC/CC mode, color-coded warnings and simple to use adaptive menus, the Petrel 2 is a favorite among serious technical divers.
Another pleasant surprise is an ability to pick any AA size battery. From now on users will be able to choose from a wider range of battery options - from the current SAFT Lithium LS14500 to standard alkaline AA such as Duracell, or even opt-in for the rechargeable batteries. Keep in mind that the dive time will depend on the selected battery.
Shearwater Petrel offers four Modes for you to choose from:
- OC Rec 3 gas nitrox recreational computer
- OC Tec Multi gas, trimix decompression computer
- CC INT Closed circuit fixed PPO2
- Gauge Bottom timer with stopwatch and dive logging
The Petrel 2 comes with Bühlmann ZHL-16C algorithm with Gradient Factors installed but you can upgrade it to VPM-B.
